ChildrenUP in the 2020 Pandemic!
June News
Some current facts:
Schools in Uganda have been closed since March 20th.
Students about to graduate may be the first ones allowed back to school.
As of June 15, there have been 705 Covid-19 cases but no deaths recorded.
There have been stringent government regulations about gatherings and transportation.
There are major concerns about truck traffic bringing Covid-19 into Uganda from neighboring countries.
ChildrenUP responses:
Our staff is staying connected with our students through phone contacts.
We normally give our second-year students textbooks. On June 15, textbooks arrived at the office and will be distributed to the students’ homes.
The staff is working with school faculty in preparing study guides and tests for Senior 3 and 4 students. Tests will be in math, sciences and the English class.
The staff will visit the students who live in four different districts. This is not an easy motorbike ride as students live one to two hours away.
