Words of Wisdom by Nancy Akumu

Dear All,

I would like to extend my sincere apology for not attending the meeting in person due to some other commitments. I hope we meet next time.

To Children Up Students:

You are all aware that things have been very challenging lately due to the covid-19 Pandemic. But one simple thing I can tell you is that YOU ARE AMAZING!

Most of your friends got pregnant and dropped out of schools. Some of them married off by their parents for money and some ran away from home, but you remained discipline, committed and focused on your studies. You are simply Amazing!

I recently came across this quote and it made me think of our Children Up students: ‘‘If the fire in your heart is strong enough, it will burn away any obstacle that comes your way’’. That is exactly what Children Up students have. They have fire in their hearts, a level of passion that sets them apart and a willingness to achieve, regardless of the challenges that come their way. Children Up has managed to produce Environmentalist, Doctors, Nurses, Engineers among others because of the burning fire each student has in his/her heart. To the new comers, do not let this fire burn low.

We are in a difficult time so let us look out for each other during this time: We will all get through this; however, strong sense of community is critical. There will be a lot of pressure and deadlines at school, please remember to help each other. Be that person who will rise above and be a source of positive energy who looks out for your fellow students.

After two years out of school, it will not be easy for you to adapt to school routines during the first days of reporting back to school I encourage to create a consistent schedule or time table for yourself and remember to give yourself breaks to relax. Communicate with your teacher if there is something that you don’t understand.

The entire Children Up staff, management and Old students are here for you and willing to lend a listening ear or to offer a helping hand. Please do not shy away from asking for help when you need it the most. We are all Children Up family, ‘’TOGETHER we can’’. In spirit, mind and body I wish you all the best in school.

To Children Up staff and Management: Thank you for working tirelessly to ensure that our students were not left behind. Thank you for distributing free learning materials that kept them committed and focused.
