Mentorship Program

ChildrenUP mentoring program is a unique activity that supports our students in their personal development, academics, career development, entrepreneurship and transition into adulthood.

There are two categories of mentorship:

Category 2:

Home Visits are tools allowing our visiting mentors to directly involve the parents/guardians in the process of guiding and encouraging their children to achieve specific goals.

We supply every student with a Student Handbook and needed textbooks.

Category 1:

Group and individual meetings are the tools by which the school-mentor and the visiting student mentors support the students in academic and social/emotional development. Teacher mentors in the school handle immediate needs of the student within the school environment. Visiting mentors meet with the students each week offering emotional and academic support. Curriculum for these weekly meetings include study strategies, decision making, confidence building, developing team spirit and career development.

Our students are selected from low socio-economic backgrounds in four districts of Northern Uganda.  The mentoring focuses on building students’ resiliency, addresses the issues that cause students to underachieve in life.

Our mentoring assists students in developing a stronger self-confidence, in becoming more open-minded and self-reliant. The students learn to become responsible members of a community.

Through our mentoring program, our students have achieved a high rate of ordinary level secondary school completion. As of 2023 we have a 87% success rate.
